some Basal Monocoplates have been planted.

Our pond has been planted with Acorus calamus, Nymphaea “Albatros” and Butomus umbellatus. These plants are some of the first flowering plants on Earth. They are the start of our timeline of the evolution of flowers going back 140 million years.

Meet at the Clock Tower at 7.30pm. We’ll walk down to the ponds to find beautiful bats. Wear sensible shoes and dress for the weather. Children are welcome, but no dogs please. The walk will take about an hour and will be led by Dr Iain Boulton who is both interesting and very well-informed as well as being possessed of a very infectious enthusiasm. Iain will bring bat detectors (highly sensitive high-frequency microphones and amplifiers) for you to use.
